25th and 26th February are eagerly awaited as an opportunity of Holidays. Actually, the 25th is the National Day of Kuwait and 26th the day, it got liberated from Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.
This year, the morning started slightly dusty but a slight drizzle was enough to clear whatever dust was left in the weather after yesterdays rain. It was a relief too, considering that the Kuwaiti government has their programs planned out.
On a personal level, today is also Ash Wednesday. This meant going to church for mass and having ash put on the forehead, in addition to it being a day of fasting and abstinence.
Good to have a holiday especially since last few days, we have being having a lot of dust storms. Like every year, youngsters are on the streets spraying foam on passerby cars and walking individuals. Some angry drivers also get into fights with those spraying foam. Of course, people try to get in arguments which they think, they can win. In the air there is excitement also as some people are off to picnics. Those children preparing for their board exams are busy with their studies oblivious to the festive mood. Their focus on the DDay so to speak being close by.
It is 12.o.clock at night and the local Pakistani youngsters are doing skidding or what you call it at a cross road, few hundred meters away, you know making the car spin around. Heard that yesterday, a lot of Indian and Pakistani youngsters were arrested for driving rental cars without licenses. In the police stations they beat these youngsters instead of letting them off with warning to parents…talk about justice.
